Important message regarding Illinois Monetary Award Program

September 2, 2015

A number of AU students depend upon Monetary Award Program (MAP) grants funded by the State of Illinois to help pay tuition, room and board. Although the fall semester is underway, officials in Springfield remain deadlocked about development of a new budget, so MAP dollars are not yet reaching campuses across Illinois.

At AU, we are committed to helping our students continue their educations uninterrupted, so pending fall semester MAP awards soon will be credited to student accounts. Once these dollars are posted, some individuals will become eligible for refunds. Our counsel is to use refund dollars carefully and to save as much as possible.

Although we are hopeful about a resolution in Springfield, we cannot predict when this will happen. So we pledge to "close the gap" this fall for AU students as we wait together for MAP dollars to reach our campus. Count on us to provide regular updates as circumstances change. Best wishes for a successful 2015 fall semester.
