Education:
I received my Ph.D. in 1997 from the University of Illinois with an emphasis in social policy analysis and administration. I also attended Aurora University where I completed my Master of Social Work degree in 1990, focusing on youth and family therapy. I am a licensed clinical social worker.

Memberships/Affiliations:
I am an active member of the National Association of Social Workers- Illinois Chapter, involved with the International Activities Network, and currently serve as Vice President on the Board of Directors. I also serve on the Board of Directors of the National Network for Social Work Managers and I am an active member of the Inter-University Consortium for International Social Development, the Association for Community Organization and Social Administration, the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors, the Council on Social Work Education, Society for Spirituality and Social work , and the North American Association of Christians in Social Work.

Other Interests:
My wife, Karen, is also a social worker and we have two children, Austin (10) and Anneke (8). Our free time is generally spent with our kids. I love the outdoors, reading, and traveling. My Friday and Saturday nights are often spent with four other friends, playing music in a rock band at clubs and private parties in the Chicagoland area.
